With a new Serie A season just around the corner, we took a moment to look back at how the last one played out, home versus away, before you pick which tickets to buy. We pulled every result from the full 2025/26 season and compared each club's home form to their away form, points-per-game. Serie A turned out to have the smallest gaps of any of the leagues we've analysed, but also the most losers-at-home, with six clubs actually performing worse in front of their own fans.
The biggest home fortress: Roma

Roma tops the table with a +0.65 differential, solid rather than spectacular by the standards of other leagues, but the clearest case in Italy. At home: 13 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses, scoring 33 and conceding just 10 (2.21 PPG). Away: 9 wins, 1 draw, 8 losses, scoring 25 while conceding 21 (1.56 PPG).
| Rank | Club | Home PPG | Away PPG | Home Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Roma | 2.21 | 1.56 | +0.65 |
| 2 | Sassuolo | 1.61 | 1.05 | +0.56 |
| 3 | SSC Napoli | 2.26 | 1.74 | +0.53 |
| 4 | Torino | 1.39 | 0.89 | +0.49 |
| 5 | Cagliari | 1.32 | 0.94 | +0.37 |
The reverse cases
Serie A stands out for how many clubs actually play better away from home than at home, worth remembering if you're picking between a home or away ticket for these sides:
- Bologna is the most extreme: 1.16 points per game at home (19 scored, 23 conceded) versus 1.79 on the road (30 scored, 23 conceded), a -0.63 swing, the biggest reverse split in the league.
- AC Milan: -0.32
- Hellas Verona: -0.30
- Inter, still chasing the title, were only marginally better at home (2.37 vs. 2.21 points per game, +0.16), despite a huge 50-16 home goal difference.
Serie A's best sides this season were often nearly as good on the road as they were at home.

Atmosphere is probably part of the explanation here too. Roma's Stadio Olimpico and Napoli's Diego Armando Maradona are two of the loudest, most intimidating grounds in Italy, and both clubs rank near the top of this list. It's not proof on its own, but it lines up with the same pattern seen in other leagues: a raucous home crowd tends to come with a real points advantage.
Curious how this looks in England? We ran the same home-versus-away numbers for the Premier League too.
